FiveRuns on Wednesday released its first hosted systems management product that the company built using open-source components, including the Ruby on Rails Web development tool set.

The company's management service is designed to provide administrators at small- and medium-size businesses with network monitoring information such as what is on a company network and potential performance problems. The user interface is an interactive Web application built using Ruby on Rails. The service costs $60 per server per month regardless of the number of applications running.
